Alpinestars S-M10 motocross helmet
The Alpinestars Supertech helmet family has been designed to develop the most advanced, most protective and most powerful helmets for riders around the world. With the S-M10, the Alpinestars helmet development team has developed a helmet that offers the perfect combination of excellent ventilation and unparalleled comfort to create a helmet with the lowest possible weight without compromising in other areas. The design of the S-M10 offers a smooth, attractive, aerodynamic profile that is aerodynamic and free of any external profiles and features that could act as a point of stress in a crash, or affect the overall integrity of the helmet’s construction. The convex surface allows for less friction on impact, allowing deflection and the most efficient transfer of energy to protect the rider’s head from the direct force on the skull, neck and spine.
Features:
The S-M10 shell size solution ensures that each helmet size has its own corresponding shell size to provide the anatomically best solution for the diverse fit needs around the world. With 4 different helmet sizes S, M, L and XL and 6 sizes from XS to XXL, it is ensured that the rider has the right fit that not only improves comfort and reduces overall weight, but most importantly improves the helmet’s crash performance.
The helmet shell construction uses state-of-the-art design technology with a multi-composite combination: 3K-carbon, an outer layer of high-density carbon that improves strength and energy dissipation efficiency through the shell, a unidirectional layer of carbon composites that provides significantly higher radial strength around the shell and prevents compression but allows controlled flexing to reduce transmitted impact energy, and a layer of aramid fibre that provides critical protection against penetration. This combination of layers is made even more effective by the epoxy resin bond, which provides the best possible strength and energy management. The limited flexing of the outer shell means that energy propagates forward and is better absorbed by the 4 times denser EPS lining.
The unique shell manufacturing process used in the construction of the S-M10 results in extremely effective impact protection. The S-M10 offers linear and oblique impact protection that exceeds current helmet standard limits. For a direct linear impact, i.e. an impact at 90 degrees between the helmet and an object, the S-M10 exceeds the new ECE 22.06 standard for 2024 by an average of 46% at normal impact speeds. New to the ECE 22.06 standard are the requirements for linear low and high velocity impacts, where the S-M10 exceeds the new ECE 22.06 standards for linear peak accelerations by 23% and 28% respectively.
In terms of rotational acceleration and performance in oblique impacts, where the impact energy comes from a different angle than in linear 90-degree or perpendicular straight-line crashes, the S-M10 exceeds the new ECE 22.06 standard for maximum rotational acceleration by 76%.
A new profile for the redesigned helmet, where the lower part is specially shaped to create a relief zone that leaves the collarbone free, with a new, softer EPS lining that extends beyond the helmet itself and is covered with a more flexible rubber compound that reduces the risk of collarbone injury.
Removable semi-soft polymer side pads for extra protection offer a larger contact area to distribute the impact energy.
The patented A-Head Fitment system allows easy adjustment of the angle and height at which the helmet sits on the head.
Ultra-ventilated helmet with 28 individual air inlets and outlets, except in the field of vision, with 18 air inlets and 10 air outlets.
